Our 8-10 year old 'Cadets Taekwondo' students have specific characteristics that differ from younger children.  They are sharper and more focused yet not quite ready to face the same challenges as a 10-14 year old. Students learn to be supportive of individual differences and include new members in a positive way that builds; Self Confidence, Courage, Self Respect, Self Discipline, Motivation and Self Control. Research has shown that as we teach martial arts we need to target the 8 key advanced skills that this age group are in the process of developing. Those skills are; Agility, Technique, Courage, Intensity, Flexibility, Perseverance, Speed and Concentration.

WHAT CAN MARTIAL ARTS DO FOR YOUR CHILD?

Martial arts creates a positive, competitive spirit which can be self or peer driven. It is the force that motivates your child to give 100% effort when faced with a challenge.Teaching your child to be self-driven allows them to tap into their own goal oriented motivational force which relies on the student's desire to progress in rank and thus learn advanced skills. This valuable character trait is developed from day one and will have a significant impact on all aspects of their lives. Peer driven training is even more natural as students motivate each other to develop skills and master more complicated techniques while they advance through the ranks as a group. A highly skilled student will then take on a leadership role and help others to perform to their best potential.

"WHEN THE STUDENT IS READY THE TEACHER WILL APPEAR."

This is where our 'ATA Leader Taekwondo' program excels for 11-13 year olds as they cope best in life when given the confidence to lead. It is a time when their training prepares them for the demands and challenges of secondary schooling giving them the confidence to;

- Lead themselves,

- Make good choices, and

- Lead their friends in a positive way.

There are many physical emotional, social and intellectual challenges that this age group faces. Our ATA Leader Taekwondo program will build self-esteem for students with physical or learning difficulties in a diverse and inclusive environment to help them cope with challenges at school. With positive, active development your child will face the transition to teenager with an enthusiastic outlook. Martial arts will assist them to;

- deal with conflict by learning how to resolve it in a non-violent way, and

- avoid being a victim of bullying.

Martial arts can help shape your child into a Leader, a dreamer with character that brings out the best in his or her personality. More importantly then will learn how to make their dream a reality through commitment and physical determination. Martial Arts offers unlimited opportunities for success by using competitive spirit, heart and soul in positive ways. "Students learn that they can be winners every day because when you are learning, you can never lose!"
